چکیده

This paper investigates whether peer effects play an important role in retirement savings decisions. We use individual data from the staff of a university to study whether individual decisions to enroll in a Tax Deferred Account plan sponsored by the university (and the choice of the mutual fund vendor for people who choose to enroll) are affected by the decisions of other employees in the same department. To overcome the identification problems, we separate the departments into sub-groups (along gender, status, age, and tenure lines) and we instrument the average participation of each peer group by the salary or tenure structure in this group. Our results suggest that peer effects are important. We find significant owngroup peer effect on participation and on vendor's choice, but no cross-group peer effects. Occurrence of Secondary Malignancies in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia During Therapy with Imatinib Mesylate-Single Institution Experience

INTRODUCTION Imatinib mesylate (IM) remains the treatment of choice for chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) showing a remarkable efficacy and offers a perspective for long disease-free survival. Due to prolonged administration of IM, the questions about the possible impact on the development of secondary malignancies (SM) are raised. OBJECTIVE To investigate the incidence and clinical outcome of s...

Screening mammography beliefs and recommendations: a web-based survey of primary care physicians

BACKGROUND The appropriateness and cost-effectiveness of screening mammography (SM) for women younger than 50 and older than 74 years is debated in the clinical research community, among health care providers, and by the American public. This study explored primary care physicians' (PCPs) perceptions of the influence of clinical practice guidelines for SM; the recommendations for SM in response...

The Protective Effects of N-Acetl-Cysteine, Oxo-Thiazolidine-Carboxylate, Acetaminophen and Their Combinations against Sulfur Mustard Cytotoxicity on Human Skin Fibroblast Cell Line (HF2FF)

Background: Using human skin-fibroblast cell line HF2FF, the efficacy of some drugs was evaluated against sulfur mustard (SM) cytotoxicity. The drugs were the sulfhydryl containing molecule including N-acetylcysteine (NAC), 2-oxo-thiazolidine-4-carboxylate (OTC) and acetaminophen as glutathione (GSH) stimulator pathway. Methods: The protective effects of NAC (0.1 mM), OTC (1.8 mM), and acetami...

A Current-Based Output Feedback Sliding Mode Control for Speed Sensorless Induction Machine Drive Using Adaptive Sliding Mode Flux Observer

This paper presents a new adaptive Sliding-Mode flux observer for speed sensorless and rotor flux control of three-phase induction motor (IM) drives. The motor drive is supplied by a three-level space vector modulation (SVM) inverter. Considering the three-phase IM Equations in a stator stationary two axis reference frame, using the partial feedback linearization control and Sliding-Mode (SM) c...

Simultaneous inhibition of insulin and somatomedin-C binding to cultured IM-9 lymphocytes by naturally occurring antireceptor antibodies.

A 53-y4-old male patient with insulin-resistant diabetes was found to have circulating inhibitors of both insulin and somatomedin-C binding. Serum obtained from the patient at the time of initial presentation inhibited 50% of both 125I-insulin and 125I-SM-C binding to IM-9 lymphocytes at dilutions of 1:150. Spontaneous improvement in the patient's diabetic state was associated with a simultaneo...

Cumulative Activation in Social Networks

Most studies on influence maximization focus on one-shot propagation, i.e. the influence is propagated from seed users only once following a probabilistic diffusion model and users’ activation are determined via single cascade. In reality it is often the case that a user needs to be cumulatively impacted by receiving enough pieces of information propagated to her before she makes the final purc...
